Husband-and-Wife Team to Lead Annual Day of Healing

Are you ready for a relationship tune-up? Whether you’re newlywed, “oldywed,” on the rocks, or dreaming of wedding bells, Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott have advice and insights to guide you to a refreshed connection with the person you love. They will also help you improve all your other friendships.

Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott will be the keynote speakers at the 13th annual Day of Healing: A Personal Growth Conference, October 29, at the Honeywell Center, 275 W. Market St., Wabash, Ind.

The Parrotts will be joined by 20 professional counselors and educators at the one-day conference hosted each autumn by the Wabash Friends Counseling Center.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Healthy People, Strong Marriages, Smart Parenting, and Intelligent Leaders.”

The Parrotts speak to over one million people annually in more than 40 cities nationwide and internationally at church conferences, in Fortune 500 corporate seminars, and on college campuses.

Les and Leslie are the authors of the best-selling book Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, winner of the Gold-Medallion Award. They have also authored Love Talk, Becoming Soul Mates, The Control Freak, I Love You More, Relationships, Questions Couples Ask, Shoulda Woulda Coulda, and High-Maintenance Relationships.

The Parrotts have been guests on CNN, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, The View with Barbara Walters, NBC Nightly News, and Oprah. Les and Leslie host the nationally syndicated radio program Love Talk and are weekly guests on the Fox TV morning show in Seattle, Wash. Their work has been featured in Family Circle, Redbook, Men’s Health, Focus on the Family, Brides, as well as USA Today and The New York Times.

Les is a professor of clinical psychology at Seattle Pacific University and a fellow in medical psychology at the University of Washington. Leslie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. The husband-and-wife team co-direct the Center for Relationship Development at Seattle Pacific University.

Those attending the Day of Healing will receive a free Christian DVD (equal to the cost of the conference), courtesy of Joy Christian Books and Gifts, Wabash. WFRN will also host free book and music CD giveaways throughout the day.

Specially discounted books and magazines will be available for conferees, as well as educational resources from a number of local and regional organizations.

A Downtown Festival is also being planned in conjunction with downtown Wabash merchants. The Downtown Festival will provide live entertainment, dining, shopping, and recreation for conferees over an extended lunch hour during the conference.

The Day of Healing has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors for 5.0 continuing education hours.

The registration fee is $15 through October 1 and $25 thereafter.
